Police announced the Feb. 18 arrest of Robin Knight, 24, from the 1700 block of S. Taylor St., on numerous charges including homicide by vehicle while DUI and involuntary manslaughter. On Sept. 29, 2013, Knight allegedly left an area nightclub with a woman friend and got behind the wheel of a 2000 Buick Park Avenue.

With her friend along for the ride, Knight made her way into the southbound inner lanes of the Boulevard although she was traveling northbound, police said.

At about 2:36 a.m., just north of Cottman Avenue, Knight’s car crashed into a southbound 2003 Mazda MPV occupied by a husband, wife and their 3-year-old daughter.

Rescuers had to extricate Althea Taylor, 36, from the wreckage. She had been a front-seat passenger in the Mazda, which was driven by her 33-year-old husband. Police did not disclose his name or the name of their daughter, who was a rear passenger.

All three Taylors were taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center with various undisclosed injuries. Althea Taylor died at the hospital. Her husband and daughter both survived.

According to initial police reports, Knight suffered a dislocated hip, while her friend suffered a broken pelvis. Both were hospitalized at Aria Health’s Frankford Campus.

Police did not disclose Knight’s blood-alcohol content, stating only that she had “left a club after a night of drinking.” Knight is imprisoned at the Riverside Correctional Facility in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 11. ••
